A number of status icons are used within TW2, and are generally self-explanatory. These include...
Lane is under Voluntary Restraint, i.e. we do not recommend using it, or we only recommend using it in a particular direction. These are usually applied where the lane is suffering through overuse or erosion.
Likely of No Interest. This doesn't mean you shouldn't drive it, but it is likely a tarmac road, or indeed a tarmac dead-end road!
A lane that has a Traffic Regulation Order applied to it. This might mean no use at all, or it may be a width restriction, or apply to certain vehicle types, for example. There are subsets of TROs too; Part Time TROs are for seasonal closures, TTROs are where there is a temporary restriction, which may lift.
Narrow to 4x4's doesn't mean you can't drive the lane, but we encourage you to please read the user-comments against the lane for guidance. Some lanes are narrow for a Discovery 1, but fine for a Jimny. Or perhaps a Nissan Patrol might struggle where a Disco 2 is fine. Many will be motorcycles only.
![]() | A large number of lanes on or near military training areas are 'Subject to Flag'. They can be closed at any time, at short notice. Do not ignore the red flag status when visiting these lane. |
In various colours, a ? symbol means "read the comments". A red ? is likely to be a warning, whereas a green ? is more informative.
